JANUARY


Eid Al-Adha -

is also known as the Festival of Sacrifice in which Muslims commemorates the willingness of Abraham to obey God and demonstrated to sacrifice his son. This celebration is held in Mecca and it will run for three days. During this day, Muslim families will make a sacrifice and prepare a feast from the slaughtered animal. Then, they will equally share the food to their relatives, close friends and to the poor people. All the business, commercial and financial establishments in Qatar is closed.


Qatar Masters Golf -

it is a golf tournament held yearly that gathers top golfers around the world. Established in 1998, Qatar Masters Golf is one of the three PGA European Tours that gives opportunities to newbie and professional golfers to prove their worth and be a big name in the world of golf.


MARCH


Doha Cultural Festival -

one of the significant and biggest events in the country featuring the unique cultural heritage of Qatar. There will be presentation of exciting programs such as musical shows, poetry, theatrical play and dance performances. The event is organized by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Heritage, which aims to attract local and foreign visitors to witness this grand spectacle.


MAY


Powerboat Races -

a popular sports event in Qatar that was founded in 2000 by the Qatar Marine Sports Federation. Usually, it is held along the coastline of Corniche, one of the best-known tourist destinations of Doha. This race draws the biggest names in sports industry throughout the world.


JULY


Qatar Summer Wonders Festival -

takes place in and around the capital city’s major shopping malls, Qatar Summer Wonders Festival is one of the most anticipated event in the country in which it provides tons of family entertainment and joy to all leisure travelers. The highlights of this extravaganza event includes tropical rainforest exhibit, horse-back riding and international village displaying crafts, cultures and food of different countries worldwide. This month-long event should never be missed out as you visit Qatar.


SEPTEMBER


Ramadan -

this major religious feast of Muslim festival of fasting is the most significant event in the Islamic Calendar observed by Muslims throughout the world. During this period, people across the country do eat or drink in the hours of daylight. Foreign tourists should refrain from eating or drinking in public while the fasting takes place to give due respect to the people.


OCTOBER


Eid Al-Fitr -

otherwise known as the End of Ramadan, Eid Al-Fitr marks the end of fasting period. This pompous celebration will last for three days in the bigger metropolis and rural areas. It will feature awesome entertainment shows in the streets and beautiful fireworks display at nighttime. Eid Al-Fitr is also when friends, family members and love ones get together to enjoy a scrumptious meal as one. Commonly, most of the commercial and business shops will be closed during the observation of Eid Al-Fitr.
