CITIES/TOWNS

  1. Doha
    - stretching 132 km², Doha is Qatar’s capital city and the seat of government. The city welcomes you with spectacular views and sparkling azure waters of the Arabian Gulf. It is one of the most frequented tourist destinations in the country. Travelers usually enjoy lounging in the long stretch of white sands, exploring the breathtaking flora and fauna under the sea and have a leisurely walk in the serene environment. This commercial and financial center houses 338,760 populations according to 2004 census.

  2. Al Khor
    - lying 57km north of Doha, Al Khor is best known for its harbor where small craft and fishing boats abound in the area. This coastal city has been rapidly progressing over the past few years. It boasts with pristine beaches, historic tower and fascinating mosques. Al Khor is composed of 31, 611 people on the last 2004 estimation.

  3. Al Wakra
    - this small town positioned halfway between Umm Said and Doha is famous for excellent mosques and numerous houses portraying the architectural style of old Islam. Furthermore, it also homes the Al Wakra Museum, which displays the rich history of the area and different examples of art and architecture. Once a fishing and pearling village but booms its way to be the commercial fishing industry.

  4. Umm Said
    - nestles 45 kilometers south of Doha, the capital city of the country, Umm Said is the heart of Qatar’s industry. It features excellent beaches, which is a perfect option to have a wonderful escapade and frolic in the sun, sea and sand. Umm Said has commercial port and oil exporting companies in which it fuels the progressive economy of the district.

  5. Al Zubara
    -just 100 kilometers northwest of Doha is the beautiful town of Al Zubara, a significant archeological site housing an old fort. The fort turned museum was erected in 1938 under Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim’s reign. The Al Zubara Fort is one of the most visited tourist attractions because of its awesome structural design.

  6. Dukhan
    - on the west coast of the peninsula, basks the home of the strange yet amazing limestone formations, the highest peak of the country measuring 321 feet and the world’s largest gas field- the Dukhan. It also boasts with beautiful beaches, fort and a mock village. This is a perfect oasis to unwind from the pressures of bustle living.

  7. Al Ruwais
    - if you want to experience an example of Bedouin lifestyle, drop by at Al Ruwais. It is situated on the tip of northern peninsula. There are several things to do in here from sightseeing of idyllic spots to recreational activities.

  8. Ar Rayyan
    - the second largest city in the country that is dubbed as one of the Gates of Paradise. It comprises with a total population of 275,000 and borders the towns of Umm Salal on the northeast, Ad Dawhah on the east and Jariyan al Batnah on the southwest. Many tourists enjoy visiting Ar Rayyan as it boasts with myriads of interesting places and sceneries.

  9. Madinat Al-Shamal
    - serves as an administrative center to some coastal villages, Madinat Al-Shamal is a wonderful haven to begin exploring Qatar. It is placed on the northern tip of the peninsula or just about 107 km away from the northern part of Doha.

  10. Al Hitmi
    - another interesting place to check out is Al Hitmi. This beautiful place is a settlement in Qatar nestling in the town of Ad Dawhah. Visitors are welcomed with quaint vistas and notable landmarks.
